Do you remember how Pastor Mark brought out that people are being referred to as lilies? Song of Songs 6:2 says, My beloved is gone down into his garden, to the beds of spices, to feed in the gardens, and to gather lilies, and in SOS 2:2 As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters. Have you ever thought of yourself as a lily? It is really an amazing thought.
Yeshua Himself referred to lilies saying, Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And whydo you worry about clothes? Consider how the lilies of the field grow: They do not labor or spin. (Matthew 6:27,28)
Yeshua knew that people have a tendency to worry, and He referred to lilies. We worry about things we cannot change; we worry about the times we are coming into; and so many more things. But Jesus said to His disciples, Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear. (Luke 12:22)
Consider how the lilies grow: They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these. (Luke 12:27)
G-d even refers to Israel as a lily, saying, I will be like the dew to Israel; he will blossom like the lily and take root like the cedars of Lebanon. (Hosea 14:5) Isn’t this an incredible picture? Israel will be arrayed in splendor and as strong as a cedar whose wood was used in the building of the Temple!
Thinking of yourself as a lily takes the stress out of life. We didn’t stress when He created us, when He was forming us in our mothers’ wombs. And in the same way each day, He is caring for us in ways that we cannot even comprehend. He promises to provide our needs, just as He does the lilies’. We don’t know how He will do it, but we know He will, because we can look at the lily, and see His faithfulness. The lily is completely helpless without Him, but with His amazing care, the lily is completely cared for, and it is beautiful!
He clothes the lily in splendor!
